Bristol students dine in style

Come rain, sleet, wind, or snow students at Bristol Metropolitan Academy will now be able to dine outside in style thanks to a new standalone, all glass dining area in the school’s grounds.

The new glazed outdoor dining canopy features glass walls on all sides for additional weather protection and is the first of its kind that we have designed and installed, showing our passion for creating bespoke solutions to meet client’s specific needs.

Made from 12ml toughened and heat-soaked glass, the new hybrid dining space incorporates many carefully thought through design features:

  • The fully glazed space always allows teachers full view of diners to ensure a happy, safe dining experience for all
  • The carefully toughened glass can withstand the hustle, bustle and knocks of daily school and playground life
  • Four doors into the space ensure that no bottle necks are created as students enter and exit the space
  • The light filled area is well ventilated throughout with a natural breeze able to circulate through mesh gable ends and ventilation gaps at the top and bottom of each glass wall
  • The glazed dining space has been given a contemporary industrial feel – with exposed fixtures, bolts and fittings – to give a distinctive look

As ever, with our school projects we sought to minimise on site disruption. Much of the glazed canopy was pre-fabricated at our Sussex based factory and the installation took place during the May half term break.

If you’re feeling inspired by what a new indoor / outdoor dining space could bring to your school or college, why not get in touch? Our team of designers, manufacturers and installers has a wealth of experience working with schools and would love to help.
