Bosbury Primary School’s inspiring outdoor space makeover

We know that in primary schools every space counts and needs to work as hard as possible.

It’s one of the reasons our design team loves working in the education space and creating bespoke canopies for schools. Because transforming underused areas into valued new spaces with imaginative playground canopies and covered walkways is our forte!

So, when previous client, Bosbury Primary School in Ledbury, came back to us wanting to maximise their outdoor space we sprang into action.

Their brief was the creation of three new canopied spaces – a walkway to provide all-weather connection between three disjointed areas of the school and two playground canopies to create new outdoor learning areas.

The result?

• A canopied walkway measuring 2m x 22m now wraps around the school to connect the main hall, a side entrance and two classrooms with a single, seamless route. As well as instantly giving the school a more cohesive feel, the walkway provides all-weather protection for staff and pupils as they move around the school sheltering them from the worst of downpours as well as the sun’s UV rays.
• Mono-pitch & barrel-vaulted canopies attached to classrooms now create connected indoor and outdoor learning spaces that can be used for crafting, outdoor science experiments, nature lessons, or simply just a change of scene.
