Innovative sports canopy creates all-weather cricket training experience

Being able to hold regular training sessions is critical to any club’s success. So, following the huge success of the world’s first hybrid cricket facility at Bradford Park Avenue the English Cricket Board and Total Play were keen to create similar hybrid training facilities across the country and turned to us once again to create year-round hybrid training facilities at the popular Darwen Cricket Club near Blackburn.

Our solution? An all-weather cricket canopy expansive enough to create the kind of all-weather facilities that have transformed the training experience in Bradford. Measuring 36m in length and spanning 15m the huge all-weather structure allows ample room for both batting and bowling practice.

With a single rolled arch reaching an impressive 4.5m height, the canopy feels light and airy inside. Mesh inserts on all side elevations also ensure that the space inside is well ventilated to create a pleasant playing environment, no matter how tough the training session.

And because our unique Opal 60 roofing fabric screens out harmful UV rays, while still allowing 60% daylight to penetrate, the cricket club’s new canopy is just as effective at providing all-weather protection in the summer as it is in the winter – a win-win for year-round cricket training!
