Rising from the flames: A new beginning for The Old Well Garden Centre in Devon

In the early hours of 1 November, a devastating fire destroyed the impressive entrance area of The Old Wells Garden Centre in Devon. Fast forward a few weeks and our team has been onsite to ensure the popular centre can bring Christmas to its customers…

As a successful tight knit business, we know just how invested our whole team is in what we’ve created and how devastated they would be if anything jeopardised our future.

So, when we heard about the huge fire that engulfed The Old Well Garden Centre in Devon in early November, we made it a priority to do everything we could to help the centre get fully up and running again in time for their peak Christmas run.

While the garden centre’s café, gift shop and key plant display areas were saved by local fire crews, its large covered entrance area was irreversibly damaged by the fire.

We were onsite within a fortnight of the incident, and by early December, we had repaired the parts of the roof critical to their Christmas trading, ensuring it was ready to welcome customers once again. We’ll be returning in the early New Year to fully re-clad the entire fire-damaged roof of the 25m x 10m triple-span entrance canopy with our signature Opal 60 roofing panels.

The impressive new space will not only welcome customers throughout the December period but will also display the centre’s popular Christmas tree range and host several festive activities and events.

We’re delighted to see this popular family run business going from strength to strength with the support of their loyal local community and wish the whole team a joy filled and stress-free festive holiday and a prosperous and successful New Year…
