Creating padel court canopies for an optimum year-round play experience

The brief

Chapel Allerton’s Lawn Tennis, Squash and Gym Club is renowned for the facilities it provides for the local community and wanted to create a true year-round offering that wouldn’t compromise play quality. They contacted us about padel court canopies – it was also key that it fully complied with the SAPCA code of practice for padel court construction.

The response

This became a milestone project for us – the first installation in the UK of our ‘developed model’ of padel court canopies. The ‘developed model’ is designed with rolled CHS steel shaped to create rainbow shaped canopy arches. These elegant arches create a simple and striking minimalist aesthetic which blends well into any natural surroundings.

Tensioned mesh was fitted to provide additional protection against inclement weather whilst ensuring natural ventilation that helped optimise the experience for players by keeping the ball in play and the worst of the weather at bay, whilst maintain the all-important connection to the outside.

The wow

The minimalist arched design of our unique ‘developed model’ allows for the creation of taller canopies to create a feeling of space and light for players below. With an eaves height of 6.5m (well exceeding the 6m requirement) this elegant design also allows for a completely unrestricted game.
