Multispan canopy creates a sympathetic extension to create valuable additional retail space

The brief

The Klondyke Group approached us when they were looking to enhance the external retail space at their busy Mortonhall centre in Edinburgh. They were keen for the new addition to provide an attractive backdrop for retail ranges, as well as year round weather protection for shoppers. It was also key that the extension blend sympathetically with the centre’s beautiful setting in the grounds of a country manor house.

The response

A multispan canopy with a barrel vaulted design created a soft, aesthetically attractive silhouette while timber cladding added to the western aspect provided additional shelter from the wind and helped the building blend beautifully into its natural surroundings. This garden centre canopy is truly a sympathetic extension of their existing space.

The wow

Over 1000m2 of covered retail space were added in a way that managed to be both cost effective and sympathetic to its surroundings. The multispan canopy created space that now plays a key role in showcasing seasonal ranges from outdoor cooking ranges in Spring through to gifting and festive decoration ranges in the Autumn and Winter.
