The brief
The team at William Harvey Hospital came to us seeking to improve patient experiences at its busy A&E department. The hospital was also keen to enhance working conditions for its ambulance crews as they arrived at the department with patients often in a critical condition.
The response
Working in close collaboration with a national contractor we designed, manufactured, and installed a huge 37m mono pitch canopy. This new hospital shelter provides year-round weather protection for patients and staff entering and exiting the busy department.
The wow
At Fordingbridge, we work as a single team on a single site, which enables us to be far more flexible than many contractors. Our flexible working approach and willingness to work outside busy emergency periods enabled the A&E department to stay open throughout the build – essential given the hospital’s proximity to cross channel routes and need to be able to deal with major incidents at any time.
