Elegant covered display area transforms the plant buying experience

Coppice Garden Centre in Tamworth is renowned for its premium plant, home and lifestyle ranges – and for the relaxing and inspiring browsing experience it has created.

The centre approached us looking to extend that experience with a new outdoor plant display area that would work year-round, enabling seasonal plant buyers to browse in all weathers. Importantly, the new area needed to be not just functional but visually striking and inviting too.

The wow

Working closely with the Coppice Garden Centre team we came up with a design that was both simple and elegant. A barrel-vaulted canopy and open sides create a generous 10m x 20m that protects plants from the harshest elements throughout the year, while creating a light-filled browsing area that is inviting for shoppers year-round.

To create premium protection, the canopy has also been fitted with automated frost curtains. These retractable frost curtains can be lowered at the first sign of any frost to create a completely protected environment – removing the need for delicate plants to be individually covered with frost protective meshing. Ingeniously the curtains can also be raised at the touch of a button when the weather is fine or when the weather is windy and having them lowered would risk damage to the canopy.

Thanks to its simple, elegant lines, the new canopy structure sits beautifully in the courtyard surroundings in which it sits – adding new height and interest – without dominating the space. And thanks to the 25-year guarantee that comes with all our structures, the new plant display area can be enjoyed by keen gardeners for decades to come…
