Popular primary school enhances facilities with new all-weather outdoor learning space

Forest & Sandridge Primary School in Wiltshire is a popular school that achieved Outstanding in all areas in its latest Ofsted inspection. Constantly on the lookout for ways to further enhance its facilities, the school came to us wanting to turn a small disused area of their site into a valuable new outdoor learning space.

Increasingly, schools are appreciating the significant benefits that outdoor learning spaces can deliver. Not only do they extend the available footprint of learning space a school has, but study after study points to the significant benefits children experience when they have a change of learning environment and when they connect with nature and learn outdoors.

In this case, our expert education team created a mono-pitch structure that covered a space measuring 3m x 10m in Forest & Sandridge’s grounds. Made from weatherproof galvanised steel, the structure is robust enough to withstand all the British weather can throw at it!

The new outdoor learning canopy is also covered in our unique Opal 60 roofing fabric that brings multiple additional benefits:

• Allows 60% daylight penetration to create a light-drenched learning space beneath

The new outdoor learning space was designed, manufactured and installed by our team within a matter of weeks, enabling the school to minimise disruption to daily school life by completing the works during the school summer holidays.
