Hospital extension creates additional space to decrease patient wait times

East Surrey Hospital

The brief

East Surrey Hospital wanted to enlarge its Emergency Department by over 133m2 and came to us hoping to give the functional new hospital extension a striking, modern appearance that would create an inviting feel for patients entering the building, often in stressful situations.

The response

Working closely with the hospital team and architect ADP we created a low maintenance structural steel frame and ‘envelope’ to encase the hospital extension – all connected to the original structure. Made with vibrant, fire rated architectural cladding, this ‘envelope’ gave the hospital everything they were hoping for – a cost effective solution with a striking, modern look.

The wow

We’re proud that when East Surrey’s extension was inspected by the Quality Care Commission, it was given an ‘Outstanding’ rating – a reflection of the quality of the build and new environment created – an environment which can be enjoyed for decades to come thanks to our industry leading build guarantees.
