New canopy extends learning space with daylight-enhancing Opal 60 fabric

Derby College wanted to extend the learning space on offer at their campus, providing students with a dedicated area to work and store materials. The client specifically sought covered space for student use and protection for materials produced by joinery students.

Responding to their needs we created a large, bespoke 5m x 15m canopy with a mono pitched roof, as an extension to their existing building and as a way to extend the learning space.

Students will need to use this canopy in all seasons, so we installed side cladding to provide additional weather protection. Coupled with our unique Opal 60 fabric, which protects from harmful UV rays as well as rain, students can keep themselves – and the items they’re creating – dry throughout the year.

This brand new canopy has extended the learning space that this college can offer; helping more students to become passionate about joinery, while students get to enjoy the natural daylight through our Opal 60 fabric.
