New football club shelter provides all-weather protection

The brief

We’re big sports fans at Fordingbridge, so were delighted to be approached to design a sports canopy to provide year-round weather protection for spectators at Isthmian League, Bognor Regis Town Football Club.

Bognor Regis Town Football Club – home of ‘The Rocks’ – has a die-hard fan following, but the club was keen to increase match day crowd numbers by providing all weather protection for spectators.

The response

With this ambitious brief in mind, we designed a generous 53m long, 5m deep football club shelter conveniently situated right next to the clubhouse. This allows both Rocks and away fans to now enjoy match day refreshments and a great atmosphere whatever the British weather has in store.

Crucially, as the football club shelter is situated directly behind the goal, the 16mm triple wall polycarbonate roofing can easily withstand any wayward shots, no matter how hard they’re kicked. It also provides 100% weather protection whilst allowing natural daylight to penetrate, so that fans can feel connected to the game and not hidden away in the dark, whenever the British weather lives up to its reputation.

The valuable new space has proved to be a huge hit with fans but also with those who hire the club’s facilities for wedding receptions and corporate events, and as a result the club has seen a huge spike in bookings since its installation.
