We were approached by the Inverness Royal Academy’s main contractor to design and install shelters that would provide much needed additional outdoor dining space for the pupils of the school.
In response we created two spacious barrel vaulted shelters with open sides that would enable students to be protected from all weathers, whilst still feeling the freedom and benefits of being outside between lessons. The steel structure of the barrel vaulted shelters was polyester powder coated to mirror the school’s dark grey window frames, creating a structure that blended seamlessly with its surroundings.
The wow
We covered the school shelters in our custom developed, fire retardant Opal 60 tensioned fabric. This fabric is ideal for school environments as it offers year-round protection and can shield students from rain, snow and UV rays, while allowing optimal natural light transmission to retain a bright, airy, outdoor feel.
