Two padel court canopies bring all-weather padel play to Teeside

With padel the world’s fastest growing sport, it’s not surprising that we’re seeing more and more gyms wanting to enhance their member’s facilities with padel courts. They’re a huge membership draw and even more so when they’re covered to become year-round facilities. So, we were delighted to be approached by the Bannatyne Health Club group to install their first ever all-weather padel courts, at their Ingleby Barwick centre in Teeside.

Our expert in-house design team worked closely with the team at Bannatynes to create a striking padel court canopy with a contemporary aesthetic that would fit in well with the rest of the Health Club’s look.

The club’s two new padel courts were covered with a twin span canopy that measures 24m wide (2 x 12m spans) by 22m long. The barrel-vaulted canopies stand at a generous 6.5m high to create a light-filled playing experience below. To complete the contemporary aesthetic the canopy frames were polyester powder coated in black creating a striking look that contrasts with the canopies’ light roofing fabric. Our unique Opal 60 roofing fabric not only blocks out rain, wind and snow but also shields players from harmful UV rays to create truly year-round playing conditions.

With padel renowned for being a sociable sport, both courts are surrounded by astro turf dotted with seating so that people can congregate and enjoy watching padel action. Some of this seating is placed outside so that people can make the most of sunny conditions when they come, while some is placed under cover, so that both spectators and players can enjoy the sport in all weathers!
