St George’s had created a vibrant courtyard area for its pupils framed by brightly painted murals and were looking to make it an all-weather space.
We covered the courtyard area with a timber framed barrel vaulted canopy that allowed light to flood the area and fresh air to circulate, but that kept it protected from rain, snow and UV rays, making it a truly all-weather space for pupils and staff.
The canopy’s timber frames were chosen to blend sympathetically with the bright jungle murals surrounding the courtyard, creating a fun, inviting area for outdoor learning, dining, crafting and playing.
The wow
Cost effectiveness and sustainability are always at the forefront of our minds in any design. All guttering and rain pipes were made of aluminium rather than uPVC, to increase its lifespan and to ensure that at end of its life the materials would be fully recyclable. The school canopy also came with our industry leading 25-year guarantee – giving the school peace of mind that the popular new area could be a feature for years to come.
