Creating an all-weather outdoor gym

The brief

The team at White Rose Park came to us wanting to transform their newest green gym into a year-round facility as part of their commitment to provide the highest quality educational and leisure facilities.

The response

We designed and constructed an attractive open sided barrel-vaulted canopy solution that shelters the outdoor equipment, creating an all-weather outdoor gym, while still allowing users of the green gym to still enjoy that all-important connection with nature.

The lightweight taper trellis canopy and minimalist material palette of steel and Opal used in the design ensures the canopy feels lightweight and inobtrusive in its surroundings.

The use of Opal 60 fabric for the roofing also allows 60% daylight to permeate the structure, enabling sunlight to stream through and light up the space, whilst protecting those beneath from harmful UV rays in the spring and summer months.

Sustainability was a key priority for White Rose Park and is one of the driving forces behind our designs. It’s why each of our designs is built to last and comes with an industry leading 25-year lifetime guarantee, and it’s why for the canopy for this outdoor gym, we used a limited palette of materials that are all 100% recyclable at the end of their lifetime.
