William Harvey Hospital, managed by East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, were seeking to improve patient experience and working conditions for paramedics.

Working in conjunction with a national contractor, Fordingbridge designed, manufactured and installed the 37m mono pitch canopy, providing weather protection for patients and staff accessing the A&E department and disembarking ambulances.

Acting as a strategic emergency point on the busy cross-channel transport routes, careful consideration was given to the live environment, ensuring that the department could continue to function effectively in the event of a major incident. As such, our H&S team worked closely with both the contractor and the NHS trusts Project Manager to ensure disruption to ambulance access was minimal, while never sacrificing safety procedures around the live build site. As such, the project was installed onsite in sections, successfully allowing the hospital to operate.

“As far as we are concerned from management to our guys on site, working with Fordingbridge has been a pleasure. You could not have been more helpful, cooperative and professional”
