As part of an upgrade to the school, which also included a new barrel vault canopy elsewhere on the grounds, Fordingbridge manufactured and installed this timber cantilever structure to allow better transition for staff and students.
Working to the schools brief, we designed a structure which maintained the look the school required, but allowed for closer positioning to the building. This was achieved by adjusting the location of the cantilever bracing so that the timber columns could be mounted as close as possible to the school, therefore providing maximum shelter.
As part of the works, The Westbridgford School also repositioned a door to open directly under the new Fordingbridge walkway, so pupils could transition between lessons under cover.
The structural timber frame, here finished in light oak stain, was completed with a solid poly-carbonate roof. Our poly-carbonate option is incredibly low maintenance and, as with all our work, comes with an industry leading guarantee.
