Formed in the late 1878, Royal Solent Yacht Club has enjoyed a long regal history of notable members, races and events. Home of the Tattinger Club Regatta, the club boasts outstanding views of the Western Solent from its position adjacent to Yarmouth pier on the Isle of Wight.

The club has been extensively rennovated and extended throughout its history, with the former bar area being constructed in 1966. Fordingbridge were tasked with the design and build of a light space to fully utilise the excellent views on offer and provide a space for members and guests to socialise and enjoy events.

With a heavy focus on glazing, the structures’ other notable feature is the exposed timber beams, cleverly positioned so the lines continue throughout and are exposed on the sea-facing aspect. The curved roof echos the nautical theme with the lines of a bellowing sail.
