Fordingbridge were approached by the Klondyke Group to enhance the external retail space for their busy Mortonhall centre in Edinburgh. Based on the grounds of a country manor house built in 1769, the centre were keen that the new addition provided suitable weather protection for shoppers, while not detracting from the surroundings and that it allowed the centre to remain in keeping with the existing setting.
Following close collaboration between the client and our garden centre specialist, a design was developed which would allow a Fordingbridge canopy to provide the cost effective retail upgrade for which we are known, without detracting from the surroundings.
Three taper trellis canopies of varying size were connected in sequence to cover the chosen area, allowing shoppers to peruse at their leisure. Flashing detail was further added to the length of the canopy adjoining the building, meaning that customers could transition from the main building to the covered plantarea with no exposure to rain. Timber cladding was added to the western aspect, providing shelter from wind and adding a further aesthetic.
Over 1000m2 of covered retail space were added in the project. If you would like to see how we can work with you to enhance your outside space, please contact us today
