Here at Fordingbridge part of our ethos is to help those, regardless of age, who wish to pursue a career within our industry.
We are fortunate to have experts within their field in our team, which means we can pass on invaluable insight to those who wish to dip their toes in this sphere. Ed Crabb approached us for some work experience and we gave him a project to complete to provide experience in each department of our business, this is what he said:
“For the past three weeks I have been working on a project at Fordingbridge to gain some experience in the industry. My responsibilities where to survey, design, manufacture, cost and construct a canopy. I was able to have an involvement in every part of the project. The most challenging part of the project was the design work but I was given technical support from the employees at Fordingbridge. I was pleased with the drawings I had created and looked forward to applying them for manufacture. The drawings described the necessary dimensions and information needed to manufacture the parts. Being part of the manufacturing improved my hand skills and understanding of drawings. My favourite part was assisting with the construction of the canopy. I couldn’t believe that I had seen the project from start to finish, from drawings on paper to a physical structure.
I would like to thank everyone at Fordingbridge for the opportunity. With their support and help I was able to see the project through to completion. This experience has given me an insight to the industry and the working environment. This has encouraged me to continue to pursue a career in the engineering industry.”
