Garden Centre building design - insulated retail buildings, canopies and walkways

Fordingbridge has a long and successful relationship with members of the garden centre business community, where it is established as a provider of bespoke insulated steel buildings as well as a range of attractive bespoke canopies, awnings and walkways. Fordingbridge is estimated to have supplied structures to more than a quarter of all the garden centres in the UK and reckons to work with pretty well all the big names in the industry including: Blooms, Squires, Wyevale, Dobbies, Sanders GardenWorld, Garden & Leisure, Klondyke, Strikes, Notcutts, Van Hage, Haskins and many more.

In addition, Fordingbridge canopies, awnings and covered walkways are a cost-effective useful addition to any Fordingbridge retail building where a porch, entrance canopy, waiting area, or trolley park is required. Fordingbridge walkways are popular as a way to lead customers on the optimum route through a retail area. Canopies, awnings and walkways can be built in a variety of shapes to suit the site including horseshoes, staggered (to cope with a sloping site), and long, flowing spans alongside or between buildings.

Our insulated steel buildings are fully L2 Building Regulations compliant, with glazed walling options and curved roofs with the option of composite roofs with or without fixed or opening rooflight sections, alternatively roofs can be part or fully glazed.

Our canopies, awnings and walkways are offered with laminated timber frames or steel frames, with the latter in hot dip galvanised finish as standard with RAL/BS paint finish also available.

Fabric roofs - guaranteed for five years - allow 60% light transmission whilst giving 95% UV protection. The triple wall polycarbonate is guaranteed for ten years. Both coverings are fire retardant.

The frames are mainly steel in construction with a composite roof and curtain walling with micro rib composite side walls as standard.

We also offer a tension fabric design and construction service, providing a range of elegant design solutions offering permanent structures with a lightweight appearance and minimal structural support but a long life.

The structure is a steel framework with hot-dip galvanised or RAL/BS painted finish, plus fabric membrane offering durability of 10 to 20 years for the PVC membrane, to 25-30 years with the PTFE membrane coating.

Shapes include: cantilevered, hypar, umbrella and double conic. We are continually exploring the application's possibilities.

Full building regulations calculations and CDM package are available with all structures.
