Greenpower sponsorship - our latest triumph

We are proud to have sponsored Greenpower electric car racing for schools for three years but for this year we decided to take it a little further. At the Season Opener event at the famous Goodwood motor circuit, we took part in the new Corporate Challenge. In this electric car race companies pit their wits, driving and engineering skills against schools who design and create their own electric cars as part of this very worthwhile scheme to engage the interest and imagination of our country's future engineers.

We were delighted to come a very creditable second out of a field of twenty five entries - beaten only by a bunch of schoolkids from Seaford College, but we're not sore about it - honest. Apart from anything else, the BBC Blue Peter team who both competed in and filmed the event only managed a fairly pitiful 20th place. We also beat a team fielded by Bentley who did considerably less well than one might have expected for such a venerable car designer. So there you go.

If this excites your competitive streak as much as it does ours then go to: http://www.greenpower.co.uk for more on our sponsorship and on how your company could take part in the Corporate Challenge 2009.

Cycle shelters encourage employee fitness

Our new range of cycle shelters with optional bike racks should encourage more employees to cycle to work. With the promise of a dry seat for the homeward trip, whatever the weather, what's not to like?

Of course we are happy to produce bespoke solutions but, to hopefully suit all tastes and budgets, we have put together a capsule range of materials and designs to choose from.

The Reynolds has an attractive timber frame with glass-clear polycarbonate roof. The Simpson and Macmillan are steel framed and also feature a clear polycarbonate roof. The last two combine elegantly to make even more of a statement as in the picture shown. Needless to say, finishes can be commissioned to suit, choosing from RAL paint colours or a simple low maintenance galvanised finish. The groundwork is minimal and can be carried out by ourselves or the client's own contractors.

Employers strike a deal with smoking workers

Of course many companies had already imposed an indoor ban before smoking on work premises was officially outlawed, but that still left the problem of untidy groups of smokers cluttering entrances and leaving piles of butts behind.

To smarten the place up and keep the workers happy, Fordingbridge has produced an adaptable range of smoking canopies offering cost effective standard solutions and bespoke options for awkward spaces. In fact, they look so appealing we worry that previously clean living employees are in danger of developing unhealthy habits.

Elegant, functional - and lots of room for the fire engine

We really enjoyed designing this covered walkway at Shakepeare Primary in Eastleigh. Not only is the structure smart and effective, we had to work around the need to maintain access for emergency vehicles in an already tight space. This helped us decide on a cantilevered construction, avoiding additional columns at the front edge and making sure fire engines can still get in if they ever need to..

Our range of walkways, canopies and tensile fabric structures is in demand for schools being used as outside classrooms, all weather play areas, entrance canopies, sheltered waiting areas and cycle sheds.

Our new brochure for schools and colleges gives sizes, prices and specifications for timber, steel and tensile fabric structures, ranging from bespoke options to items from our cost effective standard range which comes with an additional budget conscious option of leaving the groundwork to you.

Fordingbridge 'top of the class' for schools

Our work for schools and colleges has increased by a phenomenal two thirds in the last year meaning that well over three hundred Fordingbridge structures now grace the sites of our UK schools.

We like to think that this is not only due to the quality of our product and its suitability in helping schools to make the most of their premises but also our good understanding of the additional challenges working within school premises bring. As a recent client said:

"An efficient service from beginning to end. A company who thought 'children's safety' first. I would be delighted to recommend Fordingbridge to any of my colleagues."
