Outdoor Canopies, Metal Awnings and Covered Walkways

Covered walkways, pedestrian walkways, outdoor canopies, metal awnings and shelters are ideal for a range of uses where a non-enclosed structure is needed. Fordingbridge outdoor canopies and walkway designs can be constructed in steel with painted or galvanised finish, or in laminated timber. The roof covering can be in fabric, tension fabric polycarbonate.

Covered Walkway uses include: Linking of two buildings providing weather protection, guiding pedestrian routes around, for example, a retail space, school or college.

Outdoor Canopy and metal awning uses include: smoking shelters, covered outdoor space for leisure or learning, sports facilities, outdoor waiting facilities, entrance areas, porches and entrance canopies, outdoor eating areas, bus shelters and mass transit shelters.

Outdoor canopies, metal awnings and covered walkways can be built in a variety of shapes to suit the site including horseshoes, staggered (to cope with a sloping site), and long, flowing spans alongside or between buildings.

Laminated timber frames or steel frames are available with the latter provided in hot dip galvanised steel finish as standard with RAL/BS paint finish also available.

Fabric roofs – guaranteed for five years - allow for 60% light transmission whilst still giving 95% UV protection. The triple wall polycarbonate is guaranteed for ten years. Both coverings are fire retardant.

We also offer a tension fabric design and construction service, providing a range of elegant design solutions offering long life structures with a lightweight appearance and minimal structural support.

The structure is a steel framework with hot-dip galvanised or RAL/BS painted finish, plus fabric membrane offering durability of 10 to 20 years for the PVC membrane, to 25-30 years with the PTFE membrane coating.

Shapes include: cantilevered, hypar, umbrella and double conic. We are continually exploring the application’s possibilities.

Full building regulations calculations and CDM package are available with all structures.
